Bassnectar announces new EP for ‘Naux Faux’ side project

Bassnectar's collaborative side project with Sayr will release an EP this February

Happy Valentine’s Day to Bassnectar Fans Everywhere

We’re just a few weeks into 2018 and Bassnectar has already made sure that his fans have a lot to look forward with the New Year. He’s announced “Spring Gathering” in Chicago, plus headlining spots at Okeechobee, Buku, Bonaroo, AND Electric Forest. Now, Lorin Ashton (aka Bassnectar), has revealed he has a new EP in the works. One that could be released as soon as mid February. However, the EP won’t be the “bass in your face” music fans are used to. It will be released under the name of his downtempo side project, “Naux Faux“.

Ashton announced the news of the new EP via Twitter shortly after his sold out New Year’s Eve event in Atlanta. He tweeted January 5th, “the full @NAUXFAUX EP will be coming this year, hopefully just in time for Valentine’s Day”. Certainly, this will give Bass Heads a perfect way to celebrate the holiday. “Naux Faux” is a collaborative effort between Ashton and Sayr. They have previously worked together on the tracks “Breathing” (from 2004’s Diverse Systems of Throb), and “Enter the Chamber” (from 2005’s Mesmerizing the Ultra).

We’ve already gotten a taste of this new side project on Reflective Part 2.  Ashton added a remix of the upcoming Naux Faux track, “Psyopia”, to the Bassnectar EP last year. He describes it as “a throwback to a long-lost era of deep, mystical electronic music”. Additionally, he states that fans of 2005’s Mesmerizing the Ultra will rejoice in the “analog synths, shimmering sounds, pulsing chords, chopped up breaks” of the upcoming EP. Ultimately, this is Ashton’s return to his roots. So, for those who want to travel back to the psychedelic days of “DJ Lorin” this release will be for you.
