Event Preview-Catch & Release Presents: Fisher’s Bay Area Block Party

Fisher's 2nd-annual block party in the San Francisco Bay Area on St. Patrick's Day weekend

Fisher is taking the world by storm with his innovative music style that blend underground techno and electro-house altogether. The Australian producer, born as Paul Nicholas Fisher in Gold Coast, Queensland, was a professional surfer before he started his music career. His music career began in 2012 when he and fellow surfer Leigh “Sedz” Medley formed a duo called Cut Snake. Ever since he released his debut single, “Ya Kidding“, and his EP titled Oi Oi, Fisher is currently one of the world’s most popular house music DJs.

Fisher followed up on his breakout success after he released his 2018 hit single, “Losing It“. This track became a party anthem and reached #1 on the ARIA Club Tracks and Billboard Dance Club Songs charts. On May 10, 2019, he released his second hit track, “You Little Beauty“, and it was also the same name as his recent North American tour last year. Fisher is an upcoming headliner at this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami as well.

Bay Area Block Party on St. Patrick’s Day weekend

Although St. Patrick’s Day is on Mar. 17, since that date falls on a Tuesday this year, Fisher’s annual St. Patrick’s Day event titled, “Catch & Release Presents: Fisher’s Bay Area Block Party”, will take place on Saturday, Mar. 14, 2020. The location of his 2nd-annual St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza is the Lake Merritt Plaza in Oakland, Calif. The Bay Area Block Party will allow the fans to dance, socialize, and relax in a plaza that is facing a scenic lagoon called Lake Merritt. This lagoon is located in downtown Oakland and it is designated as the United States’ first official wildlife refuge since 1870 and it is also a National Historic Landmark since 1963.

Fisher hosted his first daytime Bay Area block party called “‘Catch & Release’ San Francisco Block Party”, in 2019. Last year’s block party was on St. Patrick’s Day itself since the holiday fell on a Sunday. The location of the 2019 block party was on 119 Utah St., outside the Great Northern nightclub. The prominent supporting DJs at last year’s event were Tensnake, Waze & Odyssey, Martin Ikin, and David Harness. In addition to Fisher, Insomniac Events, Catch & Release, DJ Dials, Fisher & Dolby, and Midnite Events also hosted the event.
