About Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo, or The Farm to fellow Bonnaroo fans, is located in Manchester, TN. Fun fact: When Bonnaroo comes to town, it becomes the third largest city in the entire state of Tennessee. The four-day festival (occurring this year from June 13th – 16th) opens its gates on Wednesday afternoon and they close on Friday evening for the rest of the weekend. Make sure to get there and allow for enough time to set up a spot in the campsite, too.

Bonnaroo is not only EDM festival, but also it offers a diverse lineup of genres ranging from Alternative Rock to Indie Folk Singers. The festival has hosted large industry names like Bassnectar, Alison Wonderland, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, and even the Killers, to name a few. The festival is divided into two different sections, the plazas/camp grounds and then Centeroo, which is where the stages, food and clothing vendors, and merchandise shops are located.

The Bonnaroo Lineup

Once Bonnaroo released the lineup, fellow Bonnaroo fans were raving. Some would say this year that the festival is returning to its more alternative routes. Bringing in a more diverse lineup than more recent years, the 2019 lineup includes huge name artists Phish, Odesza, Kacey Musgraves, Cardi B, The Avett Brothers, Post Malone, and Childish Gambino. They even have Brandi Carlile coming this year. Outside of just normal scheduled sets, Bonnaroo is well known for hosting several off-the-books sets throughout the Plazas. Especially at the late night stages. There are several rumors swirling about who we will see at the Kalliope and Where In The Woods stages this year. Throwing out possibilities like Grizmatik, a late night Odesza set or potentially even a couple surprise back to backs. Check out more about the lineup here.

The Plazas

The Plazas inside Bonnaroo are essentially camp centers. They host a slew of different amenities including bathrooms, foods, music and interactive events and more. These Plazas all also have their own unique theme or experience for the attendees, sometimes curated by large industry names. This year, Plaza Two is the home for “Self Love”, curated by the lead singer of the band Paramore, Hayley Williams. This is the place to go for mini-spas, glitter, and talks about self-love and mental health. Over in Plaza Six, the Boogaloo of Wonder is housed. This plaza is dedicated to art. Here there are projections, installations and more. Bringing back their magic for another year, Little Cinema and House of Yes are taking over Plaza Three. Bringing together a culmination of dance party madness and performance spectacles.

The Food

Outside of being diverse when it comes to music genres, Bonnaroo also hosts a diverse food vendor lineup. The great thing about all of them though? They are required to abide by the Bonnaroo green initiative. This notes certain ways, locations and appropriate materials the vendors can utilize for throwing away their trash or compost. The vendor’s list is diverse, bringing in festival food from all over the country, ranging from Carnervour to Vegan-friendly options. It’s highly encourage to check out the BBQ pig pit in the center of Centeroo. The menu items range from complex to simple BBQ ideas. Not only is there food available at essentially all hours of the day in the Plazas, but there are also several great, diverse options within Centeroo as well.
