MINUS ZERO 2018: 3RD YEAR’S A CHARM

Minus Zero 2018

Under a blanket of snow, the fans of Minus Zero Winter Sports and Music Festival heated up Vermont, dancing the weekend away at Mt. Snow Mountain Resort in West Dover.

Odesza, Zeds Dead, Claude VonStroke, Rezz, Tipper, Walker & Royce, Marvel Years, Jai Wolf and many other top-EDM acts from across the globe gathered at the slopes of Mt. Snow. Multiple venues, excellent skiing conditions, as well as great music and vibes made for the winter festival of your dreams.

Snowstorm Sets

Sorry to say, if you could not make it to this one, you indeed did miss out. Although the fierce weather may have delayed things on Friday, it did not stop the fun. Marvel Years, Bleep Bloop, and Tipper took on the storm with protective precautions. The CDJs and other equipment were outfitted with plastic coats to protect from the elements as the show went on.

On Saturday the storm subsided, but the music turned up. Pierce Fulton, Vermont-native and 3rd-timer at Minus Zero started it up big. Jai Wolf led into a spectacular close on the Main Stage by Odesza. While things were popping off on the Main Stage, Claude VonStroke took over the Barn Stage with Walker and Royce, Freak the Disco, and Travesty.

Sunday was last but certainly not least. Performances by GG Macgree, Yookie, Liquid Stranger, Rezz, and Zeds Dead closed out the festival right. Followed by a marvelous fireworks display at the base of Mt. Snow, Zeds Dead threw down a heavy set including some throwback Megalodon from the early 2000’s.  It is rare to find the bigger productions using such exclusive music these days. Thanks for the treat Zeds Dead!

Afterhours

Over the weekend, after-hour parties popped up in hotel lobbies, The Snow Barn, and ski houses throughout the resort area. There were a few in particular that stood out. The Snow Barn hosted the last official after-hours of the weekend. Cuzzins, at the main lodge, hosted an incredible performance by underground-dubstep DJ Evac Protocol, who also performed on the main stage on Sunday.

The Mountain

After this year’s venue change, all who attended can agree on mutual satisfaction. The mountain offered a fantastic location for the festival. The lodge, the new indoor Barn Stage, and the amenities at the Mt. Snow were just as accommodating as Stratton the previous year. The snow, shred, and sound were delivered properly.

A huge THANK YOU to the staff at Mt. Snow and Minus Zero Music Festival for having us!
