Movement reveals 2018 Artist-in-Residence: Ouizi

Movement Music Festival has announced Ouizi for the 2018 Artist-in-Residence Program. This Memorial Day weekend in partnership with 1xRUN, Detroit-based muralist Ouizi will explore the relationship between music and spirituality with a shrine-like installation. The artist will head Movement’s Artist-in-Residence program with her signature artwork and masterful designs.

The creative piece is meant to be an open-ended immersive experience. Artist Ouizi says:

“I do hope people feel spiritually lifted because that’s what I feel when I make the work.”

Ouizi’s installation will be at the amphitheater near the Pyramid Stage. Quicken Loans presented the 2018 Movement Artist-in-Residence program.

About Movement Music Festival 2018

Movement Electronic Music Festival returns to the monumental Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit this Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28. The festival is for all ages. Also, children 12 years and under enjoy free admission when accompanied by a parent. All ticket purchases are available here.

Following previous years, this year’s event will include Movement’s original five stages. These stages include the Movement Stage, Red Bull Music Academy Stage, Stargate Stage, Pyramid Stage and the Resident Advisor Underground Stage. Also, in efforts to always raise the bar higher and deliver the best festival experience possible, the stages will feature new designs and elements.

Festival organizer Paxahau has revealed a lineup of more than 85 artists set to perform. Headlining the event are the Movement Stage Closers for all three days. First, Dirtybird Records founding father Claude VonStroke will be the final act of day one (Saturday). Then, Loco Dice and The Martinez Brothers will close out day two (Sunday) with a special back-to-back performance. Finally, the Wu-Tang Clan will take over with an epic grand finale on the last night of the festival (Monday). Also noteworthy, the Wu-Tang Clan will be celebrating their 25th anniversary with a special performance by all nine members of the notorious hip-hop group.

Last but not least, aside from the daily festival program, a huge aspect of the fully loaded Movement experience are the after parties. All official Movement after party information can be found here as well as under “Experience” on the app.
