Nicky Romero and Protocol Lab at ADE 2018
On the first day of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) 2018 Nicky Romero brought his now infamous Protocol Recordings party to Amsterdam’s iconic Melkweg venue. Since its inception in 2012, the label night at ADE has garnered strong support and an impressive reputation. Many people considered it one of the “must go to events” of the week. Not content with showcasing its talent in Amsterdam, the label has expanded its events to Miami Music Week, Balaton Sound and Sziget Festival in Hungary.
The 2018 edition featured performances from an impressive sixteen artists across two rooms last Wednesday. Nicky drew upon the wealth of talent within the Protocol Family when choosing his guests for the event. The main room featured performances from Corey James, Stadium X, Raiden, Teamworx, Tom Tyger, Maximals and Matisse & Sadko. Turkish producer Deniz Koyu with whom Nicky has just released a track “Paradise” also performed a stunning set.
Meanwhile, in the Protocol Lab, next door, emerging artists such as Marc Benjamin, Antoine Delvig and Thomas Newson delivered energetic sets.
Protocol boss was joined by Lucas & Steve, W&W, and Martin Garrix as surprise guests, who performed an enthralling back-to-back set for several hours much to the delight of the audience at the packed venue.
As ADE week progressed one of the big talking points on many people’s lips was the Protocol Recordings party. With that in mind, it is certainly one to check out next year. The label is known for its supporting incredibly talented artists. In recent days, Israeli duo Teamworx has released “Clap Back”, an energetic Big Room style, progressive track on the label.
