San Diego has long been a key player in the SoCal festival scene, more recently picking up speed with the CRSSD Fest series. Twice a year, Waterfront Park holds the large electronic/tropical house event with this year’s sixth event falling on Saturday, September 30th into Sunday, October 1st. FNGRS CRSSD is the proud promoter of the festival series, along with several shows hosted in Downtown San Diego leading up to the event. Needless to say, CRSSD is going to be a “can’t miss”.
CRSSD is just one of many events hosted in San Diego by FNGRS CRSSD. One can catch a set hosted by the group at several clubs located in the historical Gaslamp District, heavily booking at Bang Bang and Spin Nightclub. While most of the music is electronic, FNGRS CRSSD is home to an array of resident DJs as well.
The Lineup
The festival returns with three stages hosting some major electronic names, including a few returning favorites and a number of newcomers.
RÜFÜS DU SOL
The Australian house trio is a highly anticipated act for CRSSD 2017. They’ve been touring around the states with their dance sound more than usual this year, already throwing down the funk with fellow headliner Chromeo at Funk on the Rocks in Denver. The boys are set to close out Saturday night at the Ocean View stage.
CHROMEO
CRSSD ’17 welcomes the funk lords Dave 1 and P-Thugg, better known as Chromeo. The Canadian-grown duo grabs their listeners with a truly unique electro-funk disco sound that gets any crowd moving. These guys are known to put on a crazy set, so make sure to check them out at the end of Day 2 at the Ocean View stage.
CUT COPY
Another Australian gift to the synth-pop crowd, Cut Copy is popular across a few genres as an eclectic dance group. The indie low-fi inspired sound is set to blend wonderfully with the other acts at CRSSD along with an array of studio album tracks to chose from. Having been around for the last 16 years, the well-developed sound is something that festival goers surely won’t want to miss. Catch their set on the Ocean View stage on Sunday afternoon, October 1st.
MURA MASA
The Guernsey born DJ has been picking up quite some recognition over the last year with a grooving dancehall/electronic hip-hop sound perfect for just about any occasion. He’s completed some notable collabs with A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX, and a more recent project with Desiigner. Bust a move over to the Ocean View stage on Sunday to catch his set.
Among other mentionables for the festival, be sure to check out Canadian electro favorite Richie Hawtin, techno DJ Dixon, dynamic duo Broods, and dance genius Damian Lazarus.
The Venue
CRSSD takes place twice a year at San Diego’s historical Waterfront Park. Gracefully squeezed between Little Italy and the bay front, this stretch of grass and water fountains is home to several events held year round. It’s noted that because this is a historical landmark, there is no smoking allowed on the grounds. For similar reasons, make up is also not allowed inside the vicinity (many learned the hard way last year, so ladies, leave it in the car). There are plenty of hotels located around the venue for those traveling from out of town, including close proximity to the airport and a short walk to the Gaslamp District.

This event is 21+. There are still a few GA Weekend Pass Advance Sale tickets starting at $135 and single day passes starting at $85. Waterfront Park is located 1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, California. Several local food vendors and breweries will be present at the event as well.
