Red Bull Sound Select and Mija Hosts ‘FK A Genre’ LA Edition.
On December 16th, DJ/producer Mija joins with Red Bull Sound Select to bring her “FK A Genre” Tour back to LA. Set to take place at The Fonda, talented Mija brings along Tennyson, Kelli Schaefer, and more special guests that are not to be missed.
Additionally, Mija and Red Bull Sound Select’s collaborative event will support the charity My Friend’s Place, a youth day shelter in Hollywood personally selected by Mija. Talented and creative producer Mija designed t-shirts that will be on sale at the event for a $10 minimum donation. 100% of proceeds will go to My Friend’s Place. The show will also host a sock drive accepting new, unused socks and/or underwear as donations to My Friend’s Place.
Mija’s wave as an independent artist began to rise after a spontaneous, unforgettable 5 a.m. back-to-back set with Skrillex at Bonnaroo 2014. Aside from releasing her own music, Mija – born Amber Giles, has utilized her creative brilliance in starting her own clothing company, Made By Mija. She is also the founder of the event’s brand “FK A Genre”. Mija continues to diversify style and sound, mixing electronic and contemporary genres, and bringing her originality to the dance floor as well as the streets.
Mija’s upcoming event features Canadian duo Tennyson and their impeccable R&B and Jazz inspired sound. The Canadian brother-sister duo started off 2017 with RBSS’ first 3 releases Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. Tennyson collaborated with Mr. Carmack and BJ The Kid to produce the trilogy. Similar to Mija’s passion for fusing genres, the duo’s style exemplifies their eclectic sphere of musical influences.
Kelli Shaefer will be kicking off the event; an eclectic artist whose sound shadows that of PJ Harvey, the relentless Nick Cave, and the playful vocality of Bjork. Through the evolution of her expansive style and deep-rooted visions, Kelli flourishes as one of Portland’s strongest songwriters.
