Secret Solstice Festival Announces 2018 Dates

Iceland’s Secret Solstice Festival
Secret Solstice Festival places a multi-genre lineup against Iceland’s breathtaking natural backdrop. Secret Solstice is an Icelandic music festival that will take place on the 21st – 24th of June 2018 for the fifth year. It showcases both established artists as well as exciting up-and-coming talent. Artists perform over the course of four days in the 24-hour midnight sun during the summer solstice.
The festival is themed after the Norse religion and mythology of old, and along with our side-event it has been described as “one of the most unique events in the world”. Electronic, indie, urban, and folk artists travel from all over the world to celebrate the height of summer in a spot where the sun never goes down.
Check out their exclusive side events Into the Glacier and The Lava Tunnel. The festival itself takes place in the Laugardalur area in Iceland’s capital city Reykjavík. The best way for International explorers to get to Secret Solstice is either by flight or ship.
More Than Music
Secret Solstice Festival is not only a musical treat with something for everyone, but it is also a great chance to visit one of the most interesting countries in the world. Because of how close Iceland is situated to the arctic circle, the nation gets the full-on effect of seasonal changes on a different scale. During the summer, Iceland gets long sunny days and as expected winter comes with complete darkness. The summer solstice was a time of bounty in the lives of the Nordic nations and a cause for celebration. The Norse mythology and religion commonly known as the Ásatru is deeply rooted in natural symbolism.
96 hours of sunlight will drench the festival in a magical charm that is almost impossible to find anywhere else. Icelandic weather can be very temperamental so you should bring clothes for most situations. Still, this time of year tends to be pretty mild so you should be fine with light protective clothing. Just pay attention to the forecast and consider what you want to do during your stay. Even as a recent addition to the European festival scene, Secret Solstice has quickly cemented its place on every festival fan’s bucket list.
