Time Is Running Out To Getting Tickets For NYC’s Eighth Annual Governor’s Ball Music And Arts Festival

The sweet smell of festival season is in the air. Social media is buzzing with chatter about who was at Coachella, who is playing the next great festival, and that the East Coast’s Governors Ball is less than a month away. Governors Ball will take place from May 31st to June 2nd. Governor’s Ball is three days full of an electric and a diverse range of fan favorite music, artists, and acts. 

Gov Ball is a sure fire way for anyone with a wide range of musical tastes to have the experience of a lifetime. Some of this year’s headliners are Major Laser, Tyler, The Creator, and Florence + The Machine. One should not miss out on legendary performances from the likes of Lil’ Wayne and The Strokes, or icons-in-the-making like Vince Staples, Dennis Lloyd, or Still Woozy. Governors Ball was first launched in 2011 and the festival has always featured an array of genres. Styles of music consist of Alternative Rock, Electronic, Hip-Hop, Pop, Folk and more. Governor’s Ball was listed as No. 4 on Harper’s Bazaar’s list of “The Best Summer Music Festivals of 2019.” Attendance numbers to the festival are continuously climbing higher with each successive iteration. Many return with the intention to recapture the magic they experienced the year before. Word of mouth has also pulled in new fans to try and capture the sheer amount of fun they have heard so much about.

The need to know

Those that are new to Governors Ball should be aware of some pertinent information. First, there are two main box offices, each located at the two entrances to the festival. It will also be hosted upon Randall’s Island. The box offices will be open each day of the festival for will-call pickup. Ticket purchases will be available from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. However, it is highly suggested tickets are purchased ASAP to ensure that the festival does not sell out. Keep in mind that there is no camping.  The Re-Entry Policy ensures that all ticket holders will be allowed to enter and exit the festival grounds once each day. You may purchase any combination of one-day tickets within the ticket limit of six. The festival will happen rain or shine, so come prepared.

It is important that everyone reads the rules, regulations, and suggestions regarding everything that should and should not be brought. Information is posted on the official Gov Ball information section. Please for the love of God, DO NOT bring a selfie stick. There are ATMs at several locations throughout the festival grounds with applicable service fees. Many vendors accept credit cards, including the merch and the food and beverage tents. Another method of payment, which would be right on one’s wristband, is Gov Ball Cashless. Children under 5 are admitted free of charge. Portable cell phone chargers and lockers are available.

Governor’s ball started 9 years ago because they were music lovers who lived in a city that needed – that deserved – a contemporary music festival. Furthermore, Music is always their primary focus, and with 60+ artists of all genres across 4 stages, there is something for everyone.

Food & vendors

Delicious food & drink is a huge part of what Gov Ball is, and once again they have curated the 2019 food lineup to bring festival goers some of the best eateries, food trucks, and chefs the city has to offer. The “Featured Mashups,” are exclusive to Gov Ball, and contain vendor combinations such as Melt Shop with King David Taco, and Rise Brewing with Davey’s Ice Cream, which both have vegetarian options available. Meanwhile, A gluten-free option is also available at certain vendors.
