Trancemission at Soundbar

After last year’s massive OPEN UP 200 event with John Askew & Simon Patterson, they wanted to come back this year with a very special guest, one of the pioneering psytrance artists of the millennium, ASTRIX!  This takes place on Saturday, September 2 at Soundbar in Chicago.  For those who are true trance fans, this is a special treat to enjoy this year’s Labor Day Weekend. Tickets can be purchased, HERE.

Astrix has been one of the leading trance producers and DJs in the world for more than a decade, carrying his musical message of psychedelic emotional uplifting trance to every corner of the world, to the biggest urban clubs and far away beaches, huge festivals and underground events. Devoted to his art and a true perfectionist, Astrix is known for his massive hypnotic explosive sets on the dancefloor and for his precise detailed production in the studio. Both always laced with tons of feel and musicality. His music has been topping the charts and his albums are considered milestones.

John Askew is, without doubt, one of the hottest tech/trance producer/DJs in the UK, if not the world, right now. After the huge success of his debut single “Vellum” in 2001, he has delivered release after release of consistently high quality club music – either through his own Discover label or via one of his many remixes for high profile labels such as Duty Free, Ministry of Sound, Euphonic and Paul Van Dyk’s legendary Vandit.

From guest appearances on BBC Radio One, to hosting his own show on London’s prestigious Kiss 100, from exclusive residencies at 3 of the World’s most influential clubs (The Gallery, Cream and Ministry of Sound) to an ever increasing diary of guest slots around the world, John Askew is now enjoying the rewards of over a decade of consistently hard work.

After spending most of his teens playing guitar in a variety of local rock bands, John’s musical alliance was suddenly disrupted when he attended a rave in Cornwall in 1993. He immediately ditched both his band and his beloved Les Paul in exchange for a pair of decks.

Today, John has taken a step back from the running of Discover in order to concentrate on his new project – Kompressed Recordings. With Discover often being credited in the press as a trend setting label that separates itself from the ‘run of the mill’ commercial pop-trance that has flooded the UK market in the last 5 years, there are now a huge number of industry people and Discover fans keen to hear what the opening releases of Kompressed will deliver.
