However, if you are looking for a unique Halloween experience, combined with a spooky history and some of the worlds most iconic musicians, we recommend the Voodoo Music & Arts Festival in New Orleans. The festival, which has put New Orleans on the map for Halloween weekend, has become a destination for EDM fans from around the country.
The Voodoo Music & Art experience is a three-day festival held during Halloween weekend (Oct. 27-30th) in New Orlean’s City Park festival grounds. In its nineteenth year, the festival continues to hold true to its tradition of musical diversity. Like each year before, the 2017 lineup consists of an expansive selection of genres, featuring only the best of the best within each category. This year, headliners include the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, The Killers, LCD Soundsystem, and DJ Snake.
Voodoo fest has been going on since 1999, and in 2013, 51% of the festivals shares were purchased by C3 Presents; the Live Nation Entertainment subsidiary that also produces the Austin City Limits festival in Texas, and Lollapalooza in Chicago.While there is only one electronic artist listed as a headliner this year, there will be no shortage of DJ’s and live electronic acts performing on the famous “Le Plur” stage. The stage, which was introduced back in 2010, is derived after the popular rave mantra ‘PLUR,’ which stands for Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. According to Voodoo founder and former Live nation executive Stephen Rehage, the stage has become one of Voodoo’s most popular attractions in the recent years.
“What we’ve been seeing is that a lot of people go to that stage and then they don’t leave,” says Rehage. “Since we brought it back in 2010, it’s been as big as the main stage.”
The stage will be at the northwest corner of the festival site, a recent change made by C3 so that the stage will not pump its bass at the other stages.Other artists performing on Le Plur this year will include Galantis, Dillon Francis, RL Grime, Yellow Claw, Illenium, Louis the Child, NGHTMRE, G-Jones, Mija, Joyryde, Boombox Cartel, SNBRN, CID and NOLA’s very own Unicorn Fukr.
