Friends Florent Denecker and Victorien Mulliez, combine their initials under one name, FDVM, forming their identity as the house music duo from France. The power of two proves strong, as FDVM have youth, talent, motivation, and soul that goes into every track and performance. As such, FDVM has a busy touring schedule appearing on the biggest stages such as Coachella, and large-scale events such as Burning Man. Their voices now speak to their experiences together in the interview below.

One EDM: WHO AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO FOLLOW YOUR PATH IN MUSIC?
FDVM: Many artists have been inspiring us through the years, Avicii being one of them, but we both agree that our families have been the most supportive on our path in music. Their constant encouragement allows us to be where we are today.
WHEN YOU ARE NOT CREATING OR LISTENING TO ELECTRONIC MUSIC, WHAT KIND OF MUSIC WOULD SOMEONE FIND YOU LISTENING TO ON A RANDOM MORNING OR EVENING?
Victorien (of FDVM): Most of the time I listen to world music, folk, indie rock, jazz, and funk!
Florent (of FDVM): I’m really open, I’m listening to a lot of music, and it depends mainly on my mood. As a general rule in the morning I prefer pop music and in the evening I really like listening to some Cuban music.
ARE THERE ANY FESTIVALS OR GATHERINGS YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ATTENDING AND PLAYING AT THIS YEAR?
Yes, all of them, but we will be back at Burning Man this year, we are so excited to perform on Carl Cox’s stage again, it’s always such a wonderful experience!
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF MAKING MUSIC?
Our favorite part is when we don’t realize we are making music, but we are. When we lose ourselves in the process of making it, when we are perfectly flowing in the creation, that’s when the magic happens. We also love the process of writing lyrics, figuring out the perfect message we want to share in the world.
DO YOU HAVE ANY DREAM DESTINATIONS TO PERFORM AT?
Ibiza seems like the ideal destination for us. But honestly, anything that is outside or by the beach is our jam.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE FESTIVAL TO PERFORM AT SO FAR?
Coachella has been an amazing experience. The ambiance was so special. It’s also, for a lot of artists, a “once in a lifetime” adventure so it felt extraordinary.

Of course, there are some milestones in terms of statistics that are of great satisfaction but our most satisfying achievement is to hear from the people all over the world who are moved by our music. Receiving their feedback and understanding the impact that our music has in their life is the reason we are doing it. We are proud to acknowledge this and are looking forward to touch and inspire more people.
APART FROM EDM, WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO?
Victorien (of FDVM): Share moments with my family and friends, spend time in nature, read, take care of my body, mind, and spirit; and design experiences to create human connections.
Florent (of FDVM): I’m really addicted to sports. I love soccer and tennis. They are wonderful ways for me to keep my body and my mind in great health.
IN LIFE AND MUSIC, WHAT WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOUR BIGGEST STRUGGLES?
In music, we are facing challenges with the constant and fast evolution of the society, the trend, and the social media–it is tricky but important to keep up and be in the front line of what’s happening.
Victorien (of FDVM): In life, travelling as much as it’s really exciting and I’m super passionate about it, it can get quite challenging to be on the road all the time, dealing with jet lag and being away from my friends, but I do take care of myself and manage to deal with it pretty well so far. Also, I live in New York so I don’t get the chance to spend the time I would like with my family that lives in France.
Florent (of FDVM): I struggle quite a bit in accepting to grow old. It might be the ultimate thing that we have no control over and that we can’t do anything about.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT?
There are a million things we could talk about but for now, we just want to thank you for interviewing us and supporting artists by giving them a voice.
