Jako Talks About Her Musical Influences, Achievements And Hopes For The Future In Exclusive Interview

Talented DJ and music producer Jako is ready to take the Electronic Dance music world by storm. Her eclectic and energetic style and sound has taken her far; performing at emblematic venues and clubs around the U.S., her mighty music has already received the praise and support from the Dance music industry heavy-weights like Tiësto, Calvin Harris, Don Diablo, to name a few. Her skills and talent also got her the chance of sharing the stage with names like FISHER, Claptone and Nervo, among many more.  

Her aim is still high as well as her energy, as she continues to prep new hard-hitting music to be released soon, we invited her to tell us more about her background, her influences and what’s next for her.  

Hey Jako, how are you doing? 

Doing good! 

Can you tell us more about yourself? where are you from and what do you do? 

I’m from Northern California. I’m a DJ, music producer, writer, and vocalist. 

What was your first encounter with music? How did you know this is what you wanted to do? 

My first real encounter with music was when I was 5 or 6, I was really into Britney Spears and the Spice Girls like every little girl in the late 90s. I would literally sit on the floor of my room for hours listening to my CDs on my Walkman. Then as I got older, like 14-16, I got into Rock and Metal. My first concert was actually Slipknot. I never really listened to House or Dance music until I stared DJing at 20. Then, I knew that being a DJ and producer was what I really wanted to do. 

How did you learn how to produce music? 

Self-taught and working with friends, still got a lot to learn, but don’t we all! 

Who are your biggest musical influences? 

Overall, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Lady Gaga. They write their music from the heart. They’re also very versatile, because they branched off into acting, makeup and clothing lines. In House my influences are Vintage Culture, Kyle Watson, and Malaa. I love their sound and DJ sets. 

How would you describe your sound? 

An eclectic mix of House music 

If someone wants to listen to your music, which track should they start with first? 

Mmmm that’s hard. I’ll pick three. Rave Generation, TMA, and Everybody Needs Somebody, for now. Haha. 

What would you say is your biggest achievement so far? 

Getting my music signed and out there and playing at all three Insomniac clubs in the LA, and OC area. 

Do you have any hobbies? 

I’m a yogi. I do an immense amount of Bikram yoga, yeah I’m in the cult haha. I’m really into health and wellness. I’m super into makeup and fashion. I like to read and binge watch shows. 

What’s in store for Jako? 

Hope to get more of my music signed, hopefully to larger labels in the foreseeable future. Play at more clubs all over their world.  Finally, DJ at a larger festival.
