Bumbershoot Experiences Barricade Issues Which Injure Two Dozen People

More than two dozen people were injured after a stage barricade collapsed during Bumbershoot at Seattle Center. Luckily, no one was reported to be in any harmful condition. All of which took place on Saturday night, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

About 25 people were evaluated for injuries after the four-foot-high steel barricade collapsed. It was reported to have fallen in front of the Fisher Green Stage before 10:00 P.M. This was also the same time a set by the New York-based electronic music artist Jai Wolf was performing, officials said.

Of those, four were taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries in stable condition. This was stated by the Seattle Fire Department spokesman David Cuerpo. David Cuerpo gave his statement in a briefing with reporters at Seattle Center.

About 3,000 people were watching the concert and many were pushing up against the barricade, causing it to fall.

Bumbershoot officials said in a prepared statement that they are,

“monitoring the situation and will update as we get more information.”

Saturday night after the incident, a large response by police and other emergency workers responded to the scene. Videos from attendees of the annual music festival showed Jai Wolf canceling his set. Of course, with good reasoning to shut the performance down after such a catastrophe.
