Polar – The Film
Coupled with his dark enchanting music, The film Polar is based on a ‘dark horse’ action noir graphic novel, “Polar: Came from the Cold” written by Victor Santos. It follows the world’s top assassin, Ducan Vizla, aka The Black Kaiser. He is settling into retirement when his former employer marks him as a liability to the firm. Against his will, he finds himself back in the killing business. Going head to head with a younger army of ruthless killers. The movie is directed by Swedish director and drummer Jonas Akerlund and stars Mads Mikkelsen and Vanessa Hudgens. Polar is available now on Netflix for anyone with a Netflix subscription.
Joel Zimmerman, known by his stage name as Deadmau5 (deadmouse), is a Grammy-nominated and Juno Award-winning electronic music producer known for his trademark mouse helmet and spectacular live shows. He brings a unique enchanting sound to traditional EDM which is why he quickly rose the ranks, gaining worldwide fame throughout his musical journey. Born in Toronto, Canada, he started out his career in animation and web design. He began djing in the late 2000s. Where Zimmerman’s travels led him through Europe and South America, playing gigs with limited resources.
Consequently, he rose to prominence in 2008 when his track “Faxing Berlin” found its way onto the playlist of legendary producer Pete Tong’s radio show. He soon became an important figure in the world of progressive house music. Enjoying international success with his platinum-certified single “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff,”. As well as “Professional Griefers,” “Sofi Needs A Ladder” and “I Remember“. He began releasing through his own label, Mau5trap Recordings. Scoring a number of awards in 2008, including a Juno Award for “Dance Recording of the Year“.
Markedly, what made his music unique were the incredible shows he would put on for his fans. He is a technology guy by upbringing so his visual effects are always stunning. The whole show is uniquely tailored to delight fans with the mau5trap branding. In 2016 Deadmau5 leaped into the virtual reality realm with Absolut. Soon after, they released a massive sample catalog with Splice while performing major festival plays throughout the world.
Recently, he debuted the upgraded version of Cube 2.0, boosting the hi-def behemoth to a monstrous 19-foot, 10,500-pounds. Apparently, Deadmau5 is showing no signs of slowing down. It will be exciting to see what he has in store for the rest of 2019.
