Ohio State University Wins Visit From Steve Aoki For #CheggMusic101 Series

Chegg, the Smarter Way to Student, in partnership with truth, announced Ohio State University as the winner of a once-in-a-lifetime visit from Steve Aoki. During the visit, the international producer/DJ and entrepreneur Steve Aoki will host an exclusive Q&A with students and perform some of his hottest hits.

To celebrate the importance of arts in education, Chegg will also award OSU’s music department a $10,000 grant from Chegg’s David B. Goldberg Music Scholarship fund. Chegg Music 101 at OSU will take place this month.

Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki is a 2x Grammy-nominated international electronic dance music producer/DJ, entrepreneur, and founder of the trendsetting record label, events/lifestyle company and apparel line Dim Mak. Since launching in 1996, Dim Mak Records has become a launch pad for many famous acts. These include The Chainsmokers, Bloc Party, The Bloody Beetroots, and The Gossip. Through skillfully marketed single and full-length releases, Dim Mak has well over 500 releases to date.

Additionally, as a solo artist, Aoki averages more than 250 tour dates per year. He has collaborations with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Linkin Park, Migos, and many more. Aoki’s debut artist album was nominated for the Best Electronic/Dance album Grammy. His follow up albums NEON FUTURE I & II featured his Gold-certified single “Delirious (Boneless)” with Kid Ink. Meanwhile, “Just Hold On” with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson became a global hit after the pair debuted the song with a performance on X Factor.

In 2016, Aoki received his second Grammy nomination in the ‘Best Music Film’ category for the Netflix original documentary, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”. The documentary premiered to a sold-out audience at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Also, Aoki has donated and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charitable organizations including his own AOKI FOUNDATION. Finally, his foundation supports organizations in brain science and research in regenerative medicine and brain preservation. 

Kolony

Aoki released his latest album, Kolony, on July 21 via Dim Mak Records/ Ultra Records. Kolony debuted at #1 on the Electronic Album charts. Kolony marks Aoki’s first full turn into rap music. With nearly 10 years of hip-hop collaborations under his belt, Aoki describes Kolony as “bridging the gap” between genres. In addition to hard-hitting rhymes, the album has raps from some of the best lyricists today. Furthermore, Kolony features rappers including Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, ILOVEMAKONNEN, T Pain and more.
