Alan Nieves is a well-known DJ residing at Brooklyn’s Output club. He has his own night series there where he pumps out heavy-hitting crowd pleasers regularly, but he’s been cooking up his production debut for quite some time now. After previously releasing on Deeperfect, Kinetika, Elrow, and Lapsus, Nieves has teamed up with Desert Hearts Recordings to release his debut EP Empty Lights.
The EP shows off Nieves’ tech house skills filled with banging bass on both tracks. He puts a spin on the tech house people tend to gravitate towards by overlaying intricate sounds and drum patterns that we can hear right off the bat. Individually, “Empty Lights” and “Contigo” stand their own quite well. However, putting them together in one EP was a smart move by Nieves because they work as a power duo.
