Alison Wonderland releases new video for her latest single “Church”
Alison Wonderland recently announced she will be releasing another full-length album, Awake, later this year. While there’s no official release date yet, she’s already blessing us with a few tracks from the album. The fan favorite, “Happy Place“, will be making the cut, as well as a brand new song, the equally spiritual, “Church“. The new track made its debut last week alongside a visually stunning music video.
The video for “Church” was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Bo Mirosseni, who works with Disclosure and Mac Miller. Alison travels from a warm church hall to outer-space, then back again thanks to the help of a gospel choir and a vintage station wagon. It helps visually represent Alison embracing herself. Then, after a few outfit changes, she gains the praise she deserves.
Alison takes a bit of a deviation from her usual hard-hitting beats to dive into her songwriting skills on “Church”. According to Miss Wonderland herself, it’s about “realizing your self-worth when the person you’re with doesn’t”. It features a happy-go-lucky bounce and a genuinely infectious chorus; one that every festival-goer will be screaming along to when this track is undoubtedly blasted from every main stage across the world. It tackles a feeling everyone is accustomed to while serving as a redemption track for anyone that experiences insecurities.
With headlining slots at some of the most prominent festivals in the industry and another full-length album on the way, this will be a massive year for Alison. Everyone say a few prayers that the release date for Awake will reveal itself soon. But, if this track is any indication, the wait will be worth it. In the meantime, fans can catch her at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Tomorrowland, and more. Find tour information and other updates about Awake on Wonderland’s homepage.
