Bassnectar & Dorfex Bos Debut ‘Other Worlds’ [Original]
Earlier this week, Bassnectar slathered fans with a filthy new single sure to sizzle any basshead. Continuing anticipation for his upcoming sequel album, the Reflective: Pt. 2 EP, out Dec. 1 on Amorphous Music, Bassnectar has revealed a different kind of track; a downtempo, low-frequency dreamscape of sound entitled, ‘Other Worlds’. Bassnectar has decided to team up again with artist Angelo Tursi, better known as Dorfex Bos for the piece. Listen here or scroll below for the new music video.

Lorin Ashton said, “‘Other Worlds’ was inspired by a new collage from Sebastian Wahl, which we brought to life with the help of Black Lake Media. The collage shows portals emerge and unfold and evolve within and around a picture frame… a magical gateway, like the wardrobe in The Chronicles of Narnia.”
“On a sunny day in Brooklyn I sat down with Dorfex Bos to write a piece of music to go along with the visuals, and the ideas just came pouring out. We finished the song in 24 hours flat, with various instruments and sounds mapped to various details and dimensions of the various worlds within the collage.”
Reflective Pt. 2 EP Tracklist:
1. Bassnectar & Dorfex Bos – Other Worlds
2. Bassnectar & Digital Ethos – Slather
3. Bassnectar & Peekaboo – Disrupt The System ft. Azeem
4. Bassnectar & G Jones – Chromatek
5. Eprom – Pineapple (Bassnectar Remix)
6. Naux Faux – Psyopia (Bassnectar Remix)
Diving Deeper Into Sound: A Written Analysis
‘Other Worlds’ begins slow and low, opening for listeners like a gateway of sound into a sea of bliss. One single shimmering synthesizer starts weaving its way into presence. Waves of sub-bass frequencies start to swell and wash over while hymnal-like vocal samples slowly arise, echoing and dancing from the chambers. As the pitch starts to increase, more glistening synthesizers join in on the ballet and listeners sail off into fidelity.
A gradual, steady kickdrum falls in, giving some beat to the rhythm. As the synths start to loop and shutter at different tempos, familiar hi-hats and snare rolls snap and clap along the way. The ebb and flow of sub-frequencies and synth sounds blend together fuller, lusher, until we’re finally sent off to some distant, twinkling otherworld. It’s bass that begs for a euphoric, mystical voyage.
Reminiscent of the track ‘Horizons’ off Reflective: Pt. 1, this collaborative effort between the same two artists pushes the journey further. Where ‘Horizons’ focused on gigantic swallows of sub-bass, ‘Other Worlds’ finds space for more subtle nuances. One SoundCloud subscriber described, “This is so beautiful, I’m crying.”
