New Music Video From Calvin Harris
Back in June, Calvin Harris took genre-bending to a new level. Every track on his most recent album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, featured an R&B or Hip-Hop artist, including names like Snoop Dogg, Pharell, Frank Ocean, Migos, Ariana Grande, and John Legend. Most recently, the single from the album, entitled “Faking it,” received its music video. Like the single, the music video featured Lil Yachty and Kehlani. The cool-toned, color scheme, lighting, and old film special effects set the tone for the stone-cold smooth music video.[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mPflmNE4ag&w=560&h=315]
Throughout the music video, the artists appeared in sets with snow, smoke, and ice sculptures of Lambos. The entire set seemed to be set within an ice palace that attested to the elitism of each artists existence in their genres. Every aspect of this video went hand-in-hand with one another and showed the unorthodox artistry that emits from Calvin Harris’s newest album, and the “Faking It” single. Below you can find the full album and more information about the artists featured in the music video.
Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1
Calvin Harris stands as an unstoppable force in the EDM genre, and his fifth album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, serves as a testament to this statement. The album redefines expectations for today’s top tracks. Apple Music refers to Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 1 as “post-EDM, with a laidback vibe better suited to barbecues than bottle service. Packed with feel-good summer anthems, it draws from dancehall, Motown, and breezy California hip-hop.” The collaborations on this album show us the direction music has the potential to go. We are in an age where genres are merging all around us and they combine much more fluidly than what might be anticipated.
