Claude VonStroke’s latest “Walay (My Bae)” EP on Dirtybird
Claude VonStroke EP
Claude VonStroke has been far from quiet on the production front as of late. “Grenade,” his collaboration with EPROM, is still doing damage in DJ sets around the world. Tiny tambourines are also still a common site at Dirtybird events vis-a-vis his collaboration with Will Clarke.
However, it has been a while since Dirtybird’s fearless leader has released solo material on his home label.
Walay (My Bae)
Lucky for everyone, the wait is over. Claude VonStroke just released his brand new solo-EP “Walay (My Bae)” complete with a pair of dancefloor weapons.
The title track finds Claude taking everyone on a trip down memory lane by borrowing sounds and grooves that go all the way back to his epic 2009 album ‘Bird Brain.’ Traces of the epic synths from “Aundy” and the active bassline from “Vocal Chords” display Claude’s commitment to his sound juxtaposed against his ability to grow as a producer.
“Raw Nerve” takes things in a more eerie direction with Claude’s classic use of his voice in his tracks. The drum groove pushes the song forward while the man himself narrates the listener through a journey to find a dark dancefloor where a song such as this belongs.
