David Guetta has been busy. With two summer hits under his belt, the French producer returns with his latest track ‘Dirty Sexy Money’, a collaboration with fellow producer Afrojack featuring vocals from British singer/songwriter Charli XCX and French Montana, which is out now on all digital platforms.
The catchy track is clearly a firm favourite with audiences having amassed an impressive 3.3 million views on YouTube in the fortnight since its release on the 2nd November. The track which was co-produced by Skrillex has an energetic melody that is laced with high octane, punchy beats throughout the chorus.
This contrasts with the pared back composition of the verses where it is Charli XCX’s vocals that take centre stage alongside a softer, more toned down sound. French Montana’s vocals add an edgy element that make this the ultimate cross over track.
The colourful and distinctive artwork created by Dutch Neo-Pop artist Selwyn Senatori came about when David had some free time between studio sessions in Amsterdam and was introduced to Senatori’s work.
Selwyn: “During ADE, I invited him (David) to my studio, and the idea of cooperation arose because he was very impressed with what he saw there. I applied my contemporary art to Dirty Sexy Money and for this I consciously chose strong, clear shapes and a raw character. The result is a mix of pop, modern, retro and my own characteristic influences which goes perfectly with the mix of styles on the track.’’
Having just wrapped on another successful Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) that saw David take 7th place in the Top 100 DJ’s poll, perform to a capacity crowd at Amsterdam Music Festival where he premiered his new track alongside a special guest appearance by Afrojack, 2018 is set to be as busy as ever. David recently announced a European stadium tour for early in the New Year.
On Saturday David Guetta returned to London and performed alongside iconic Irish rock band U2 at a free MTV Presents open-air concert at Trafalgar Square ahead of the MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday (12th November) which were held at The SSE Arena Wembley (London). At the ceremony, David took home the award for Best Electronic Act and closed out the night with a live performance of ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ alongside French Montana and Charli XCX.
Senatori’s artwork was brought to life during David’s EMA’s performance by the talented team at production company High Scream who are also the masterminds behind the stunning stage designs for Ushuaia in Ibiza each year.
