Gramatik channels his roots with “Aymo”, ft. Balkan Bump and Talib Kweli

Gramatik has been on a roll this year and the hits have not stopped coming. His new EP “Re:Coil Pt. I’’ is on the way and he has given his fans a small taste so far. The tropical sounding “Recovery” and the heavier, dubstep release “Voyager Twins” have laid the groundwork for a very diverse EP, and “Aymo” continues along the same, diverse path. He teams up with San Francisco native, trumpeter and fellow producer Will Magid, aka Balkan Bump, and hip hop artist (and general music genius) Talib Kweli for this Balkan horn-heavy track.
Listen to “Aymo” here:
The song starts with sounds inspired heavily by Gramatik’s homeland, Albania. String instruments ring through the song, and Talib hops into his verse riding the beat with a performance that has you bouncing with each word. The first verse ends and the horns come in and really increase the energy. The range and diversity of his features really shine through on this song. Balkan Bump is currently making waves in the Bay Area with his World Wide Dance Party, a concert series celebrating sounds from around the world. The combination seems like a great fit as this track really takes you to the Balkans with its general sound and vibe.

Gramatik recently announced a 26 date tour for Europe, and the EP, “Re:Coil Pt. 1”, will be dropping officially October 20th. He will be debuting the whole EP on that date when he plays at Espace Culturel et de Congrès René Cassin-La Gare in Fontenay, France. After teasing the diversity of the EP over the last few months, you can expect that to be an incredibly special night.
