American DJ/producer, Gryffin, continues to play on intense emotions within his work. Beginning his musical career with single “Heading Home,” fans have always been able to count on Gryffin to deliver emotional music with great melodies. “Hold You Tonight” is Gryffin’s first new release since album “Gravity” came out in October of 2019. Pairing up with country artist Chris Lane to deliver vocals that resonate with fans.
Gryffin, born Dan Griffith, started out with music by playing guitar for several bands. Griffith is also a classically trained pianist. He attended the University of Southern California and received a degree in electrical engineering. Only after attending school did he begin his career as an electronic music producer. In 2016, Griffith released two singles that skyrocketed his career. The first being “Heading Home,” featuring Josef Salvat, reached number one on Spotify’s US and Global Charts. The second single was his collaboration with Bipolar Sunshine, “Whole Heart.” Flash forward to 2019, Gryffin’s album “Gravity,” made its way to number one on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Gryffin was scheduled to perform at Ultra Miami 2020 before the cancellation occurred.
In the spirit of defying expectations, Gryffin has dramatically expanded the scale of his live show, dreaming up an elaborate set and light design that visually manifests the cosmic themes threaded throughout Gravity.Insomniac Artist Bio – Gryffin
As of now, Gryffin’s next big live performance will be at Electric Forest. Only time will tell if this festival runs as scheduled with COVID-19 ruining many plans thus far.
Country artist, Chris Lane, is from Kernersville, North Carolina. He grew up playing baseball, honing his skills enough to play in college. After an unfortunate injury, his career path changed up a bit, turning to music during a difficult time. Lane’s twin brother, Cory, and himself auditioned (unsuccessfully) for American Idol in 2007. Luckily, their denial didn’t deter Lane from continuing to pursue music. After some trial and error, Lane finally figured out his sound. His Big, Big Plans Tour sold out in many cities from coast-to-coast.
Big, Big Plans Tour was named after single “Big, Big Plans.” This song is an emotional depiction of his thought process while preparing to propose to, now wife, Lauren Bushnell. Due to the pandemic, Lane and Bushnell decided to postpone their honeymoon. While disappointed, it’s important to show fans they are doing their part to stay safe. Lane will surely continue to advance in his career and the collaboration with Gryffin shows the diversity in his musical ability.
“Hold You Tonight”
Gryffin shows amazing ability as a producer with his new song. By layering acoustic guitar and country-style vocals with traditional EDM aspects, he shows fans he is versatile. “Hold You Tonight” is pulling on listeners’ heartstrings. The song accurately describes how one feels in a relationship. Gryffin and Chris Lane included their significant others in the production of this single, furthering the connection the song makes to relationships.
