Luke Mandala’s “Fire Eyes” Is A Party Starter

Two years after debuting on Desert Hearts Records, renowned SoCal talent Luke Mandala returns with new track, “Fire Eyes“. Luigi Rocca additionally makes his label debut with a remix of the EP’s title track.

Review of “Fire Eyes”

“Fire Eyes” embodies the idea of kinesis; rumbling basslines kick its title track immediately into high gear, where they’re soon accompanied by crisp percussion and grooving synthesis. Aja Monet lends her voice to “You Know,” which also places heavy emphasis on its low-end. Mandala adds a hint of nostalgic flare to the finished product with orchestrated pads in the breakdown. Finally, Luigi Rocca takes a more rhythmic approach to his take on “Fire Eyes”. The track inserts new drum patterns and boosts to adapt the single to peak times on the dancefloor.

Mandala’s career in summary

Luke Mandala’s saga with dance music reached full bloom in 2007, where after ten years spent cutting his teeth as a touring DJ, he began releasing music of his own. The following year, he launched Activated Recordings, and since then, he’s been a regular on the renowned Desert Trax imprint. Meanwhile, he signed onto other top tier labels including Traum, Booka Shade Music, and Selador. Mandala is a fixture in the transformational events space, where under his main moniker and his side project, Mandala Affect. Luke has graced stages at the likes of Oregon Eclipse, Cascadia Gathering, and more.

The rise of Desert Hearts Records

Desert Hearts Records continues to reach new heights. In its six-year tenure, the imprint has grown from a free download platform to a premier American hub for house and techno. It has signed international superstars ranging from Rodriguez Jr to Nathan Barato. The label kicked off 2020 with a series of EPs from the Desert Hearts Crew of Mikey Lion, Marbs, Lee Reynolds, and Porky. Additionally, there will be more top-tier releases in the pipeline for the rest of the year.
