Nicky Romero celebrates the 200th release from his Protocol Recordings label with an epic edit of Teamworx, Mr. Sid & George Z’s “Techno.” Above all, Nicky draws upon the club-friendly sound that he returned to with this year’s “Redefine” EP.
A tale of Tech-Trance
Quite impressively, Nicky Romero has created a hard-hitting fusion of Techno and Trance with, “Techno.” This amalgamation is called Tech-Trance, and “Techno” exhibits inherent traits of the subgenre. Consequently, listeners are exposed to dancefloor-destroying and driving basslines as well as heart-racing tempos. Additionally, the catchy vocals in “All my friends still listen to Techno” may draw a chuckle from dance music veterans. Humorous, considering that the genre is alive and well.
Nicky Romero has already played “Techno.” He included it in his special Avicii Tribute set, and during the Tomorrowland United Through Music live stream. Accordingly, the track may sound familiar to some.
Protocol’s pervading prominance
Nicky Romero founded Protocol Recordings in 2012. It is a label that consistently features his own music and that of both rising and established talent. Simply put, the label is one of the leading imprints for innovative house music. On the other hand, it has also expanded to multiple international showcases at music events such as Miami Music Week, Amsterdam Dance Event, and Balaton Sound.
