‘Human’ by Steve Angello
After months of build-up and anticipation, GRAMMY-nominated producer Steve Angello has finally shared his second album ‘HUMAN‘. A musical offering that contrasts starkly with his 2016 debut album ‘Wild Youth’. ‘HUMAN’ is released via Size Records and AWAL Recordings and is available to stream and download now. Seen as a new departure for Steve, a dynamic project that is sonically free of any pressure or expectations. In March of this year, a month ahead of the full album release Steve released the lead track from the album ‘Nothing Scares Me Anymore’, a stunning collaboration with Sam Martin.
The striking video to accompany this track was directed by Alex Wessely with creative direction by Steve. The video features sprawling Nordic landscapes shot across the rugged terrain of Iceland. The breathtaking environment plays a key character in the narrative, telling the age-old tale of separation and reunion.
‘HUMAN’ is the result of a year-long journey of discovery after Steve lost himself, along with the hope and love he had for his music. He walked away from music and returned to his home in Stockholm, completely incapable of creating art. Ready to leave it all behind, one day, he experienced a deep spiritual awakening following a visit to a local church. He found peace within himself. He then set out to make new music on his own terms, free of expectations to make a “hit” or meet sales numbers. This album is Steve in his purest, most vulnerable form and his best work to date.
The 21-track album features collaborations with Pusha T, Highly Sedated, and famous U.S. preacher T.D. Jakes among others. It’s a musical experience from an artist who seems to have shed his former self and emerged renewed and revived. With tracks that are so deeply touching, emotive and dark, it’s clear that Steve has embarked on an intense journey that has seen him exploring new techniques and styles musically which are reflective of his personal experiences.
