This clothing brand is the vision of Melbourne fashion and costume designer, Emma Baker. Her colorful, fun fashion wear appeals to electronic dance music (EDM) fans looking for outfits to wear at festivals.
From Fashion Hobby to Fashion Career
Emma Baker’s hobby as a fashion and costume designer started long before the founding of Get Yourself Dressed in 2017. Close friends of Emma Baker were among the first to witness the colorful festival outfits. Upon request, Emma Baker went to work on custom fit designs for her friends to wear at festivals. With the arrival of these outfits came much attention and admiration of the custom outfits. Inevitably, demand for similar outfits came to outnumber her facility to honor all requests. Naturally, customer interests and her talent meant stepping up from her fashion hobby into a full-time fashion career. Baker then put forth her efforts to supply festival fashion under the brand name Get Yourself Dressed.
Get Yourself Dressed Thrives Among EDM Fans
The electronic music event Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia is the host of a bazaar with several merchants, and among them is Baker’s brand Get Yourself Dressed. Attendees wearing colorful outfits at this event similar to those of the Get Yourself Dressed collection is of no coincidence. Baker’s designs are the inspiration of previous observations of their colorful costumes during her first trip to Rainbow Serpent Festival five years prior.
Emma Baker’s Motivations
Indeed, colorful costumes are her specialty but with it comes a vision to inspire those who wear her designs:
I’m a Melbourne based costume and fashion designer who loves all things colourful and bright. My designs focus on making life more fun for everyone.
