Zach Heckendorf signed his first record deal at 18-years-old and performed at Red Rocks Amphitheater. His latest song “Up” is on countless streaming services and he has already shared the stage with high-profile artists. Not to mention that he also graduated from Columbia University. Is there anything that this Denver native can’t do?
The beginning of Zach Heckendorf’s career
Some Heckendorf fans believe Zach was destined to create music. His parents are both avid music lovers—DeVaux being one of their favorite musicians. Zach’s father played the guitar while his mother enjoyed singing and dancing. At ten-years-old, Zach found his dad’s old guitar in a closet and started strumming some chords. At that moment, Zach knew he wanted to pursue guitar lessons.
His passion for music and natural talent landed the rising star his first record deal right after high school. Zach encountered several performance opportunities along the way, but Bonnaroo was his all-time favorite thus far.
“Bonnaroo was amazing and incredibly inspiring. LCD Soundsystem’s show was a life-changing moment for me.”Zach Heckendorf describing how Bonnaroo became his all-time favorite event.
FestWorld Magazine Radio’s exclusive interview
In Zach’s eyes creating music is all about trusting the process. During an exclusive interview on FestWorld Magazine Radio, originally called GenX Perspective, Zach gave an intimate run-down of his journey creating his upcoming album, Hawk Talk, which will drop this September.
“The album is called Hawk Talk right now, but not like the idea of hot talk,” Zach said. “It’s about trusting the process of life. For me to be in the music industry and to be going at it with this much intensity, there is a lot of trust that where I was or where I am is where I need to be.”
Zach Heckendorf’s next moves
